2 Jerks Caribbean Restaurant

From 2 Jerks' Facebook Page

A few weeks ago, I participated in the NIOSC Amazing Race with Mark and our friends, John and Alisha. One of the destinations was 2 Jerks, a Caribbean restaurant that took me back to the days spent in Priory, Jamaica with the old Rend Lake College crew!

C&C Breakfast

A few weekends ago, I was finally able to indulge in some delicious breakfast food at C&C Breakfast. It was my sister-in-law's birthday and we wanted to go explore. Best place to start? How about some french toast with fresh fruit, homemade whipped cream, and strawberry syrup?!

N's Garden

When my family visited for the first time, only a few months after we arrived on island, my sister and I drove around exploring. One of the beautiful outcomes was discovering N's Garden! It's an interested, secluded restaurant that has the best croissants ever!

Sweets Cafe O'Crepe オークレープ

About 2 months ago, my friend Manami introduced me to her friends, Wakako & Tsukasa. She told me about their dessert cafe in Naha and how it was famous for crepes. During our conversation, we had a pretty intense conversation about the difference between American cupcakes vs muffins. It was both hysterical and amazing, and by the end of the night I knew I had to find my way to their cafe.

A Danian Cafe: Soup Curry

You guys, I have to tell you about this love affair of mine. It's with soup curry and, recently, I found a new restaurant that I really enjoy! I first heard about soup curry from my sister, who lived in Japan for a while, and encouraged me to learn how to make it upon finding out we were moving to Oki. It was her favorite while she was here and originated from Hokkaido, Japan's second largest island. That's all she could tell me (besides all of the amazing details about how delicious it was)... so the search for the experts on the matter began.

Cupcakes and Scones

After a visit to one of my favorite restaurants, Cafe Monoca, I stopped by to the new cupcakes and scones shop next door. I was with a group of fun ladies and we were all up for a taste testing!

Indira Restaurant

So, Mark and I really enjoy Indian food! We've tried a few places around the island and, even though their dinner prices are steep, we have really come to love Indira.

Crafts and Carafes Monthly Meet-Up

At the end of July, I threw my first "personally-hosted" Crafts and Carafes party! A group of fantastic ladies came together at Roguii, a fave restaurant of mine, to decorate their own tea towels. It was a mix of old and new faces, friends, and strangers.

Santorini: Cafe and Dining

A friend recently went to this restaurant and reminded me that I never posted about it! Oh no! We had our eye on this place for a long while and finally made it while Mark's niece was visiting us. We decided to get together with our friends and finally try it!

Monoca: Zakka Coffee & Fun

Yesterday, I went to dinner with Kacey (Kacey's Kitchen). It's great because we're both trying to eat our way through our cool Okinawa Cafe Book... don't judge! Kacey is one step ahead of me because she has the updated version, which is great because we are always finding and picking new places to try! Last night was no exception and we found our way to Monoca, an adorable little cafe in Kitanakagusuku.

Cafe Natura

Today, Mark was able to take a day off from work to celebrate my birthday (a day early). My only "requirement" was that we ate lunch and dinner at places that we'd never been before. So, I picked up my Okinawa Cafe 2013-14 Book and found a restaurant that was only listed in Japanese. I called to make sure they were open and was happily told, "Hai!" ... and we were off!
