Lights, lights, and more lights!

So, after my first adventure with the floating spheres, I was super pumped when some photographer friends scheduled another excursion. This time, we went to Toguchi Beach and had an amazing back drop! Also, Mark and I played around with a flashlight during our walk tonight. So fun!

We started out on the beach. The tide was low so the "spinner" was able to get pretty close to the water. The algae gave a cool effect, too. However, it did not smell very nice! Ugh, actually it stunk pretty badly... but lets be honest, who cares when you have a view like that!

I love the orange sky. This was a battle of white balance, which I'm learning about (slowly, but surely). Some photos turned up a blue sky, others white but the orange was my favorite.

The ground effect on this one was because we used a different "method" to achieve the sphere. When I say "we" I mean, everyone else did the hard work and I pushed my camera button. Ha! I love the reflection of the algae though. AWESOME!

For the steel wool shots, I was at the top of the stairs and the spinner was at the bottom. I loved that I was able to get the highest spark and the lowest. Looks like a spider, huh? 

After we were done with the beach, we walked around the corner to a little cove. This was by far my favorite shot of the night. I love the lighting of the cove, the sky in the background... everything! This was with very, very little editing. I have to say, I was proud of myself when I saw this photo!

We started experimenting with lighting up the cove with a flashlight, attaching more lights to a single sphere, and some double sphere action. At this point, it was around 8:30 and we knew that we needed to be wrapping up but were too excited to stop. What do you do then? Starting setting stuff on fire, of course!

The last shot (right above this) was my favorite fire shot. The spinner took one for the team and got IN the ocean and spun the steel wool. Can you say, AWESOME?! I love that the water kind of seems like lava. Oh man, so fun.

Tonight, I took my camera and tripod along with Mark and I on our walk. He's been looking at my pictures trying to figure out how they work so it didn't take much to convince him to try it out with me.

This was hit very first try! Not bad!! I like the "Mark Ghost," too. Ha!

After a few tries, he mastered the art of drawing backwards & he managed to disappear in these. Sah-weet! He's so romantic, he wrote our name in the stars. hahaha! I crack myself up!

Lastly, Mark took me to the foot bridge near our house so I could try some traffic shots. I've been telling him that I wanted to try it and we were both excited with the results. Next time, I'm going to go to an intersection with hopes of getting some crossing lines.
