Bourbon, Houseboats, and Farm Animals | Visiting KY & TN

For our anniversary, Mark and I celebrated by taking a road trip to Kentucky and Tennessee! It started with the long-haul trip to Knoxville (ps - stayed at the cutest AirBnB while there) in an effort to get as far as possible in one day, plus a stop in South Caroline to see Mark's sister.

After that, we headed to Kentucky to experience a part of the bourbon trail! That was a sweet spot for my bourbon-loving husband and some the best scenery and people that I've ever met! We wrapped up our trip by linking up with my family and enjoying Memorial Day Weekend on a houseboat. It was all very exciting!

We chose to stay in Bardstown, Kentucky and use it as a "kick-off point," for our bourbon trail exploration. It was a cute little town with a little something for everyone - restaurants, shops, and (naturally) bourbon.

While there, we were able to see 5 different distilleries! It really was right in the middle of a bunch of distilleries and I would, definitely, recommend staying there if you're going to be exploring the trail.

After we left Bardstown, we headed to Mammoth Cave National Park for an overnight. While we were there, on our actual anniversary, we went on a nice hike through the park! I loved that we spent our time that day hiking together - it was really special!

That night, we found the cutest little Bed and Breakfast out in the country. In fact, it was called Country Girl at Heart Farm. Darlene, the owner, was so sweet and accommodating. It was truly such a great time and Caroline had a blast getting to know all of the animals!

The rest of our weekend was spent enjoying Dale Hollow Lake and relaxing on a houseboat! It was so nice to just lay back and chill - no pressure to do anything. I was able to finish an entire book, get some quality time in with Caroline, and enjoy some sunshine - just what I needed!

Our anniversary trips are always amazing and this was no exception. I think, we came back rejuvenated and ready to go! Yes!
